MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Parece mentira pero de nuevo, un año más está a punto de terminar… 

Es tiempo de reflexión, de plantearse nuevos retos y objetivos, de compartir, de estar con los tuyos, de disfrutar en familia, y en el mundo de la Sincro, es tiempo de los Shows de Navidad!!!

It seems incredible, but once again another year is about to come to an end...

It´s time for reflection, to consider new challenges and objectives, to share, to be with your family, to enjoy with them, and in the synchro world, it's time for Christmas Shows!!!

Cuando era pequeña, mi madre siempre me contaba que para ella la mañana del Sorteo de Lotería de Navidad, era el comienzo de la Navidad. El sonido de las bolas, los niños cantando los números y los premios y el locutor de la radio eran señal de que las fiestas ya estaban presentes en todas las casas. Así era como mi madre vivía el comienzo de la Navidad...

Pero claro, cada uno tiene sus vivencias, recuerdos y experiencias, y en el mundo de la Sincro tenemos otras tradiciones…

When I was little, my mother always used to tell me that for her, the Christmas Lottery morning marked the beginning of Christmas Time. The sound of the balls, the children singing the numbers and prizes and the radio broadcaster were a sign that the Holidays were already present in every home ... That was how my mother lived the beginning of Christmas...

But, of course, everyone has their own background, memories and experiences, and in the Synchro world we have other traditions...

Cada año, al llegar Diciembre, comenzábamos a preparar la Exhibición de Navidad, así lo llamábamos. Todas las nadadoras del club, nos uníamos para compartir con las familias y amigos una misma rutina, que solía ser con música navideña. Aunque en aquella época aun no existía esa modalidad, era lo más parecido a lo que hoy conocemos como Rutina Combinada.

Every year, when December comes, we began to prepare the Christmas Exhibition; that is how we used to call it. All the club swimmers joined and shared with our families and friends the same routine and that used to be executed with Christmas music. Even though at that time there was no such routine, it was the closest thing to what we refer to today as a Combination Routine.

Grandes y pequeñas, las más experimentadas, veteranas y novatas, nos uníamos al más clásico y puro estilo Esther Williams, creando estrellas, figuras y movimientos para celebrar que ya estábamos en Navidad.

Old and young, the more experienced, veterans and novices, joined in the most classic and pure Esther Williams style, creating stars, figures and movements to celebrate that Christmas had arrived.

Era un momento mágico, donde compartías con todas tus compañeras, nadabas, te reías, aprendías, disfrutabas y sobre todo, hacías sincro.

It was a magical moment that was shared with all your synchromates, where you swam, laughed, learned, enjoyed and especially did synchro.

Hace unos años, tuve la oportunidad de crear y organizar, gracias al Ayuntamiento de mi ciudad, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, una Exhibición de Navidad. Pero esta vez, uniendo a nadadoras de los diferentes clubes que hay en la ciudad. 50 nadadoras de sincronizada de todas las edades, unidas, pero esta vez no en una piscina, sino en el mar, en La playa de Las Canteras.

A few years ago, I had the opportunity to create and organize, thanks to the my city hall, Las Palmas, a Christmas Show. But this time, swimmers from the different clubs in the city were gathered together to perform. 50 synchronized swimmers of all ages together, but this time not in a pool, but on the sea, in Las Canteras Beach.

Sin duda si hablamos de navidad, mi recuerdo más cercano y vivo son estas exhibiciones. Era el momento de decir, ya llegó, ya está aquí la Navidad!!!

There is no doubt about it, if we talk about Christmas, my nearest, fondest and most alive memory is these shows. It was the time to say it has arrived, Christmas is already here!!!
